The Monument for the Unknown Child consists of a circle of life in the shape of a medicine wheel. The medicine wheel is used in all kinds of cultures all over the world as a symbol for wholeness.
The aim of a medicine wheel is to restore harmony in the world. everything is connected to everything and is mutually influenced. In this, we take as our starting point the four elements, the four directions of the wind, the four cycles of the day and the four seasons. As a starting point for the monument the Indian vision on life was chosen, in which 36 stones are laid down. The stones are set in a certain pattern and all have their own symbolism. For the monument we start with 35 stones and the work of art made by artist Cobi van de Kuit: the Rose, which forms the very heart of the circle of life. All of this invites you to be silent. The silence in your own heart with thoughts of the Unknown Child.
